Reducing our impact on the environment has always been a priority for us at Social Stories Club as we send out sustainable gift hampers across the world. We are constantly researching and seeking out ways to improve and reduce our carbon footprint– so we are very excited to announce that as of now, all of our deliveries are carbon neutral!

Carbon neutral - A super quick definition

Carbon neutral means that any CO2 released into the atmosphere from a company's activities is balanced by an equivalent amount being removed. For us, this means that whenever we send out one of our sustainable gift boxes, the carbon emissions released during its transport will be offset. By offsetting the CO2 emissions, we can reduce the negative impact it has on the environment and help protect our planet.

How do we do this?

Offsetting our carbon emissions has been made possible through "Offset".

 What Offset do:

Using industry models, Offset calculates the CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere from each individual shipment, taking into account factors such as weight, distance, and type of transportation.
· Offset then works with the company Pachama to determine the cost to offset these emissions, which Social Stories Club pays for.
· The funds are then used to purchase carbon credits, which offset our emissions through deforestation protection projects.

Did you know? The global average carbon footprint is 5 tonnes CO2 per person.

Some positive news

The UK has recently launched a £30m project funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKIR) to reduce the countries carbon dioxide emissions. They will be investing in key research over the next 4 years with the aim to reach its net-zero climate target by 2050. The results will be used to help shape longer-term government decision-making on the most effective technologies to help the UK tackle climate change and reduce our CO2 emissions.

Pachama

Pachama uses data, artificial intelligence, and automation to protect the world’s ecosystems, restore our forests and improve carbon markets. Offset is currently funding their project - Jarí Para REDD+ Avoided Unplanned Deforestation. This is a Verified Carbon Standard certified project, and the funds from Offset go towards protecting the existing forest, fighting illegal logging, and improving the biomass through better forest management practices.

We are extremely proud to be supporting these amazing projects and to date, you have helped us protect a forest area of roughly 579m2 so thank you as always for your support! If you would like to know more about Pachama and the important projects they support then we definitely recommend you check out their website.
