Our Story - Social Stories Club with Karis and Aayush
When we first discovered social enterprise it was a divine Disney like moment, businesses can create a social impact? Wow! We could envisage a world one day where we make an impact with every purchase we make. Imagine rolling your trolley down the aisle of a supermarket and picking out your tooth paste, soap and chocolate but each product was making the world a better place. We could make an impact with each and every purchase. This set us off! We must find all these amazing products that exist and tell the world their social stories.
This was almost eight years ago, and today we (Karis Gill and Aayush Goyal) are equally passionate about impact and storytelling. We found the perfect way to introduce social enterprises and their amazing stories to new people: sustainable gift hampers! We set out to create the most exciting, eco-friendly gift hampers filled with high-quality products. Each comes with a fascinating story of how delicious chocolates, beautifully smelling soaps, and warming teas are supporting reforestation projects, empowering individuals with disabilities and educating girls in tea growing regions.
Since launching our social enterprise gifts we have been enormously successful! Large corporates around the world have bought sustainable gift hampers for their teams and have received wonderful feedback including “this is the best corporate gift I have ever received”. Storytelling has been a great way to start conversations about sustainability within companies saying “everyone still talks about the personalised gift box with the stories they got for Christmas last year. We started off with just three sustainable gift boxes but have grown fast. Now our most popular options include building your own sustainable gift hamper and sustainable vegan gifts. Aayush is the calm to Karis’s storm. While he might not shout the loudest, he’s the backbone of the operation. A spreadsheet enthusiast and problem-solver, Aayush quietly keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. From managing operations to ensuring financial accuracy, Aayush’s meticulous approach ensures the vision becomes a reality. When he’s not trouble shooting, you can probably find him in the airfield as three years ago he got his pilots license!
